Cancer Treatment has been a slow process, it has had a rapid development but a slow development in treatment. In the 19th and 20th Century cancer treatment had a major breakthrough. Significant surgeons took on cancer and came up with a way to attempt to cure it. Bilroth in Germany, Handley in London, and Halsted in Baltimore are all surgeons that led exploration in America and different parts of the world. Their surgeries led to the exploration of "cancer treatments". Many technological advances led to cancer treatment plans, some of these technological advances came from Germany which demonstrates a exchange of ideas. Primarily current day America is known for the best cancer treatment and an ample amount of people travel to America to seek second opinions on their treatment plans, but without the three surgeons that first tackled cancer and attempted at surgery America would not be where they are today with the cancer treatment. Linda Berlot is a survivor of breast cancer. Breast cancer runs in her family so it was only a matter of time that she would wind up getting it and she was aware that it was bound to happen. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer she was 43 years old. Linda was thrilled with the success that her sister had in the treatment course the doctors gave her in Switzerland so Linda went there to get her course of treatment. Linda's cancer was found at an early stage so it was very minor; therefor the doctors were able to go in through surgery and remove the tumor from Linda's breast, Linda carried on her treatment with radiation and chemotherapy to make sure that the cancer was killed. Another cancer survivor survived thyroid cancer, Joan Shay was diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the age of 50. Joan had doctors remove the lump on the back of her neck and also continued with chemotherapy and radiation. The treatment course that Linda take make her radioactive and made her isolated from her loved ones for several days. The point is with out these surgeons who tested surgery there is a chance that these survivors would not be here right now. The exchange of surgery and technological advancements have led to people having a shot of surviving cancer.
